New Zealand is the home of the Kiwi, the Maoris and a lot of strange slang words and phrases that may confuse visitors, even English speaking visitors.
Note many of these words may also be common to Australia, Britain or both as slang has spread through these countries in particular.
This is a weird phrase even by slang standards. Means to become moody or bad tempered. Can also be used to refer to something that is broken. e.g. My TV packed a sad.
